As everyday life in our region shifts dramatically, Clothes For Kids is focused on continuing to serve our community and provide quality clothing to local students. While school may look different and our day-to-day routines are changing, the need for clothing is still very real. Clothes for Kids is taking this opportunity to Spring Forward for Fall 2020.

On March 11th we made the difficult decision to close our school shopping program for this school year.  While this is disappointing, we will continue to provide clothing to students experiencing emergency situations. We will reopen for school shopping again in August 2020. We are pleased to say that our efforts to grow our program were successful this year and we provided 4,038 wardrobes to low-income students. That is an increase of 10% over last year!

The current quarantine has made it necessary for us to postpone our Auction (previously scheduled for April 25th) and we will announce the new date as soon as possible. With schools out of session for the near future, we anticipate a significant decrease in our coin drive revenue this year. We also expect our end-of-school-year lost and found collections to include far less clothing.

We believe that the need for families will increase over the next several months and we are working to maintain our services and insure that we will have an adequate inventory to serve the increasing need when we open in late August. This email is an effort to reach out to our supporters to request your ongoing commitment to Clothes For Kids and the children we serve.

Please consider giving an extra spring gift this year.  It costs approximately $85 to provide one complete wardrobe to a student. Or $20 per month could supply 20 students with new shoes this year--there are a number of ways to give! Please go to www.clothesforkids.org to make your donation online todayOr if you prefer to mail in a gift, you can make checks payable to Clothes For Kids and send to: 16725 52nd Avenue West Suite B, Lynnwood, WA 98037.

On behalf of the Clothes For Kids board, volunteers, staff, and of course the students and families we serve: thank you for helping us to create smiles on kids’ faces and looks of relief and hope on those of their parents. Please keep your families and yourself safe.

Some of the Many Ways You Can Support Clothes For Kids:

1. Clean Out Your Closets! Being stuck at home offers the opportunity to do that Spring Cleaning and set aside items for donation! Clothing donations can be left in the large donation bin located right by our back door. If you have household items that you would like to donate for our rummage sales (May 8-9, June 5-6) we will post the drop-off dates on our website as soon as they are available.

2. Share Us on Social Media! We have Facebook and Instagram pages where we share information and ask for support. Please Like, Follow, Comment, and Share our posts.

3. Add Us to Your Shopping List! Currently retailers are putting their winter clothing on clearance. Our biggest needs for the coming school year are socks, underwear, girls coats, boys athletic pants, and shoes! Check out our Amazon Wishlist and shop from the convenience of your computer or phone.

Thank you for all your support.
